10 Questions to Meditate on as We Embrace a Year Ending and New Beginnings

Whatever your religious leanings and observation practices, this is a time in the calendar to think about the past year, a new year coming on, and possible changes. We all are evolving, and with some level of risk we have the power to change for the good.

These questions are not original to me, and some have been handed down through the ages. They are full of meaning, so I am adapting them to pass on for you to ponder as you look back and forward, as I am doing.

  • How are you the same as at the start of the year? How are you different?

  • What did the last year teach you?

  • Are there things you need to let go of, and are you ready to do so?

  • What long-held habit no longer serves you?

  • What part of yourself are you ignoring?

  • What do you forgive yourself for?

  • Are you fulfilling your potential?

  • Are you clear on your purpose, your “why,” and are you consistently working toward it?

  • How might you change?

  • Who needs your support, and how can you give it?

These questions apply to both work and your life outside of work, how you relate to others, and how you relate to yourself.

Call to action: If you belong to a discussion group (not just a networking group) where you feel comfortable sharing your thoughts on these questions, I encourage it. Or just quietly in the group or by yourself, jot down your answers, act on them, and save them to look at next year.

Happy pondering. If you’d like to discuss some of these questions with me, reach out, and we can set up a call.
